DOLLARS FOR SCHOLARS Telethon Copy Information

Congratulations to the Methuen School Department on another year of hosting the "Dollars for Scholars" telethon. MCTV does not have copies of this production as it was done by the High School Media Department.

School Vacation Programming FRIDAY

It is the end of the week and the kids have been home. Need some family friendly local programming?

FRIDAY April 19, MCTV is starting programming at 9 am with the New England Civic Ballet's performance of "Cinderella". At 10:30 am, the thought-provoking talk by Colleen Lahey about her descent into drug use and her journey back, "The Empty Chair: Exposing Addiction" followed by a musical program, "Healthy Choices with Julie and Brownie at 11:15 am.

Noon brings the St. Monica School "Lip Sync Contest 2013".

Friday night at 9 pm, the Methuen High School Choir Coffee House will premier. Check out all this local talent only on MCTV Comcast 22 and Verizon 33 in Methuen.

MCTV Winners Receive Awards

MCTV staff and volunteers have received their ACM Northeast Regional Video Festival Awards. In an Awards Ceremony at the Methuen Memorial Music Hall, MCTV kicked the evening off with an original silent movie accompanied by the great pipe organ played by Chandler Noyes. Over 200 people attended from New England and New York.

Four MCTV shows received honors including:

Second Place: Documentary Event: "The Strike Heard 'Round the World": Bread & Roses 1912 Tom Gradzewicz, Producer

First Place: Instructional & Training: "Trick Tips with Devon Hurst" (A skateboarding video) Sean McCarthy, Producer

GreyCourt Poets Featured on MCTV

Five years ago, some local poets starting meeting every month at the Nevins Memorial Library in Methuen. This month, they have released their first Anthology book: "Songs from the Castle's Remains", referencing GeryCourt from where they took their name.

Readings from the new book are on MCTV Comcast 22/Verizon 33 in Methuen.

MCTV Programs Place in Regional Competition

The results have been announced for the 15th Alliance for Community Media Northeast Regional Video Festival. The competition covers all New England states and New York. The contest had over 600 entries this year in professional and non-professional catagories. Volunteer members and staff were recognized for four different programs.

Central Catholic Basketball on DVD

"THE EMPTY CHAIR" featuring Recovery from Addiction

Father and daughter torn apart by drug addiction --- hers --- are together again in recovery. They decided to share this with others by starting the TV show, "The Empty Chair: Exposing Addiction". Every month, they are bringing in guests and discussing what resources are available to help people in recovery. They also share what families of recovering addicts need too.

This program is on MCTV and youtube as well as a program distribution service called PEG Media. MCTV airs the program on Tuesdays at 6:30 pm and Wednesdays at 8 am. Comcast 22/ Verizon 33
