<title>"RED TAILS"-Hear Another Story on MCTV</title>

<description><![CDATA[<p>On the third episode of the award winning &quot;Call to Serve&quot;, Luther McIlwain, a Tuskegee airman, told his story of his service to our country. He talked about the predjuice he had to deal with as many believed that black men couldn't fly in combat. They not only flew in combat, they were successful at protecting the bombers flown by white pilots, earning their respect and admiration.</p><br />
<p>It wasn't until 2007 that the Tuskegee were honored by Congress for their contributions. In honor of the release of the movie &quot;Red Tails&quot;, Methuen Community Television is re-airing &quot;Call to Serve: Tuskegee Airman&nbsp;Luther McIlwain&quot; on Wednesday, February 1 AT 7:30 pm and Thursday, February 2 at 10:30 am.</p>]]>

<title>"THE STRIKE HEARD 'ROUND THE WORLD" premiers Thursday</title>

<description><![CDATA[<p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 13px; ">On January 12, 1912, workers in the mills walked off their jobs and began &ldquo;The Strike Heard &lsquo;Round the World&rdquo;. This January 12, MCTV member Tom Gradzewicz, a descendant of mill workers, wanted to make sure the strike was heard &lsquo;round the Merrimack Valley.</span></p><br />
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; "><span style="font-family: Arial; ">&nbsp;</span></p><br />
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; "><span style="font-family: Arial; ">Working with Jim Beauchesne of the Lawrence Heritage State Park, Gradzewicz collected photographs and accounts of the strike and created a 28 minute video called&nbsp;<b><i>&ldquo;The Strike Heard &lsquo;Round the World: Bread &amp; Roses 1912&rdquo;.</i></b>&nbsp; This video is premiering on Thursday, January 12 on MCTV at 10:30 am. It will also be played on local cable television stations throughout the area at </span></p><br />

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; "><span style="font-family: Arial; ">The video, narrated by MCTV &ldquo;Methuen Now&rdquo; host Michelle Houle, features the voice talents of Methuen residents such as new City Councilor Jamie Atkinson, Politically Active's George Scione, Tom&rsquo;s wife Fran and others filling roles of elected officials, strikers and mill owners. Gradzewicz himself portrays an immigrant in the beginning of the video, which took several months to complete.</span></p><br />

He has won national recognition for his &ldquo;Arts &amp; Crafts: Food for the Soul&rdquo; video about the classes offered at the Methuen Senior Activity Center.</span></p><br />

<p>After a successful event at the Methuen Senior Activity Center on Sunday, November 13, City Councilors Jennifer Kannan and Jim Hajjar spearheaded getting the proclamation on the agenda.</p><br />
