We are an active production community, with both member shows and staff programs. Our local newsmagazine has been recognized by the Alliance for Community Media with awards at the regional and national level. We are dedicated to providing unbiased local election coverage. Our Board of Directors is committed to providing the best we can offer to the community.


 

Summary of Responsibilities:

     1.   Responsible for programming the MCTV playback system, media storage and our dubbing system;

     2.   Responsible for general upkeep of the studio, editing suites, field production equipment and office equipment;

     3.   Responsible to work on MCTV productions including our newsmagazine “Methuen Now” and with MCTV members, providing assistance, training and support in their creation of programs for air

     4.   Responsible for the maintainance and development of organizational network facilities including the master database “Intranet”, server and other basic IT functions;    

     5.   Responsible for researching, recommending and installing new equipment and software and working with vendors to correct problems and affect repairs;

     6.   Responsible for posting, updating and continuing to investigate ways to improve MCTV’s website and social media opportunities  

           

Basic Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree in appropriate discipline and completed internship or high school or trade school diploma and 3 years experience.

      1.  Television Production skills are required, ie: operation of cameras, switchers, audio boards, graphics computers, and non-linear editing equipment.  Directing, linear editing skills, set and lighting design are a plus. Basic Video and Audio Engineering Experience is desired.                         

      2.  Basic Computer experience with both PC and MacIntosh, internet and social media use is required. Knowledge of Compix CG, Adobe Photoshop, Leightronix Nexus, and Final Cut Studio a plus.  

      3.  Basic information technology skills with Microsoft windows server and database management are essential.  Active Directory, SMB file protocol, VBscript, PHP, SQL, Google Apps platform, VPN/Firewall configuration a plus.

 

Being organized, responsible, pleasant, willing to work outside “regular” hours and taking an initiative approach to problem-solving are essential to fitting into this team.

IN THE FIELD: Methuen Community Television is offering 2 three week television FIELD

production workshops. In these workshops, participants are taught how to successfully record an event or other types of footage using a field production camera, tripod and microphone.


Tuesday evenings: February 16, 23 & March 2 from 7-9 pm.


OR


Wednesday afternoons:  April 21, 28 & May 5 from 3-5 pm


IN THE HOUSE: Methuen Community Television is offering 2 FOUR week television STUDIO

production workshops. Learn how to use the cameras, graphics computer, audio board and video switcher.




Thursday afternoons: March 11, 18, 25 & April 1 from 3-5 pm 


OR


Monday evenings: March 22, 29, April 5 & 12 from 7-9 pm


FOR THE STAR: Methuen Community Television is offering 2 three week television workshops in hosting and producing your own TV show in the studio. Learn about interviewing and designing an effective program.


Wednesday evenings: March 10, 17 & 24 from 7-9 pm.

Tuesday afternoons: April 6, 13 & 20 from 3-5 pm.

As a community entity, Methuen Community Television will schedule tours of the facilities to educate people about television media and technology. The tours are free to Methuen-based groups. Due to the nature of the information presented and the amount of expensive equipment on the premises, tours can not be scheduled for groups with children under the age of 9 years.


TOUR SCHEDULING


A tour is scheduled over the telephone with a staff member of MCTV. The tour will be set for a time that does not interfere with any other scheduled activity.


The contact person for the group must leave a name, address and phone number for a copy of this policy will be forwarded. Tours will be confirmed a few days ahead of the scheduled date. Anyone wishing to cancel or reschedule a tour is to call the studio prior to the scheduled date. No shows will only be rescheduled at the convenience of the MCTV staff.


TOUR RULES


1. Groups with children will include adult chaperones. Children can not be dropped off and picked up later.


2. Groups are to arrive on time and not disrupt any work being done in the offices or edit rooms. Early or late admissions may not be able to be accommodated.


3. An MCTV staff member or intern will be conducting the tour. Groups will adhere to any restrictions that are set.


4. Groups will refrain from touching of any equipment unless invited to do so by the tour leader.


5. Only animals assisting the disabled are allowed on the premises. Please notify MCTV if this situation applies to your group.


We hope that a tour at MCTV will be a positive experience.

MCTV has partnered with them to create "Family Focus", a series of half hour shows featuring parents and experts discussing different topics.


Six episodes are currently available. They are:

They could be fake commercials, sight gags, humorous commentary or something completely different.


If you would like to submit a video for consideration to appear on this program, let us know! To be included in the program, we will need access to the original video, not a download from YOUTUBE.
