Methuen Community Television has been recognized as a Community Partner by the VETERANS HISTORY PROJECT of the American Folklife Center, a division of the Library of Congress. The recognition stems from supporting the production of CALL TO SERVE for the last seven years. Hosted by Kathleen Corey Rahme, CALL TO SERVE has conducted nearly 80 interviews with veterans from World War II until the present. Once completed, the interviews become part of the archive of nearly 68,000 stories collected by the center. All branches of the service have been represented.
Two guests of the program, Luther McIlwain, Tuskeegee Airman, and Sara Hayden, Women's Air Service Pilot, have been honored in Washington DC with Congressional Gold Medals recently. CALL TO SERVE's first year featured their stories.
The producers of CALL TO SERVE, Corinne LaCharite and Al Grant, have worked along side Kathleen Corey Rahme, director Paul Clover and many other volunteers who dedicate their efforts to telling these stories. We tip our hat to those who have answered the CALL TO SERVE.
